Craps is a dice game that involves action and strategy both with the money and dice. In this game, the players place bets on the outcome of the roll or a series of rolls. Players can wager money against each other or a bank.
At Cafe Casino, craps is one of the most exciting games. It has numerous bets and each one has a different payout. Therefore, you have so many options and if you choose the right bet and align it with a good strategy, you can improve your chances of winning. We also have practice games for craps that can help you understand the game better and win an amazing online jackpot.
The rules of craps are the same in both online casino and land-based casinos. But the gameplay is a lot simpler online. There are no allocated shooters as you are the shooter every time you play. The dice are rolled automatically every time you click the roll button. You can place the bets by clicking in an appropriate place on the betting layout.
Every round in craps starts with a come-out roll. If the two dice's total value on a come-out roll is 2,3, or 12, then it is called "crapping out". You will lose, but the round is not over yet, and you get to roll again. If the come-out roll is 7 or 11, it is called "natural". You win and get to roll the dice again. If any other value like 4,5,6,8,9,10 is rolled on the come-out roll, a point is established, equal to the value rolled. The round then continues to the next stage. The shooters continue to roll and bet on the outcome of each roll. It carries on till the shooter rolls a seven or the point value that was previously established. Once someone rolls a seven or point value, the round is over, and a new come-out roll would be required.
The game might seem simpler until now but what makes craps interesting is the different bets that can be placed. Apart from the bets mentioned above, there are various other bets like come bets, don't come bets, place win bets, place lose bets, etc.
If you are a beginner, it is easy to be intimidated by the terms, numbers, and different bets available in craps. To play craps online, you should be familiar with at least a few bets. So, let's look at some of the available bets.
You can either bet on the "pass line" or the "don’t pass line”. The pass line bet means that you bet the shooter will pass or win by rolling out a natural or winning the point before rolling a 7. The don’t pass line is the exact opposite. It means that the shooter will not pass or lose. It can happen if the player shoots a 2 or 3 or fails to roll the point again before a seven shows up. Apart from this, if you roll a 12, it is a “push”. It means that you neither win nor lose.
In craps, you can make these bets only before the points have been established on the table. Once the point has been established, and the shooter needs to roll the sum again, you can make a “come bet” or a “don’t come bet”.
As explained before, these bets can only be made after the point has been established. The come bets win if it is a natural outcome and loses if it is a crap outcome. If a point is rolled out, it then becomes the come-bet point. It works similar to the pass line bet. If the come-bet point is rolled out again before a 7, you win; else, you lose.
Don’t come bet is similar to the don’t pass bet. You will be in luck if the shooter rolls 2 or 3 but not so much if he/she rolls a 7 or an 11. Similar to the don’t pass bet, a 12 is a push again. Once the point is established, you must hope for 7 before the shooter rolls out the point again.
One more thing to remember is that neither the pass nor the come bet can be turned off. Once the bet is placed, you have to wait until it plays itself out. But you are allowed to make additional bets on the come-bet point, and you can withhold or increase these at any time.
These are one-roll bets with an exception that can be placed on any roll. If you bet for any 7, you will win when the shooter rolls a 7. If you bet for any craps, you will win when the shooter rolls a 2,3 or 12. When you bet a boxcar, you would win only when the shooter rolls a 12.
The exception that was mentioned above is called “Hard ways”. In this case, you will win if you roll a 4,6, 8, or 10 with a pair of the same numbers like 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, etc. It has to be done before the shooter rolls any other combination that makes that sum or a 7.
Though there are some other bets, these are the most important ones, and you can play and win money from carps if you understand these bets properly.
Before getting into winning craps strategies, let's look at the two dice probability. It is essential because every outcome in craps depends on the roll of a dice. To find the probability of throwing any dice roll, you must divide the number of ways to throw the total with the total combinations which is 36.
For example, if we consider the number 7, you can throw it through 1+6, 2+5, 3+4, 4+3, 5+2, and 6+1. Therefore, there are six possible ways to roll a 7. So, the probability of getting a 7 is 6/36, which is 16.6%. Apart from 7, every other number has a probability which is less than 15%. Now let us use this knowledge to formulate a strategy.
Our strategy will revolve around the pass line bet because this offers a house edge of 1.41%, which is the lowest compared to every other bet. You can bet on the pass line hoping that the shooter would throw a 7 or an 11 on the come-out. It might not sound great to depend just on 2 numbers for a 1:1 win, but as we discovered before, 7 is the most probable outcome in a two-dice throw. Plus, you do not lose if these numbers do not come up. You will only crap out if the shooter rolls a 2,3, or 12. Every other number sets a point and keeps you in the game till the shooter hits a point, and you win, or the shooter rolls seven and craps out.
For the don’t pass bet, you require a 3,12, or snake eyes to win. You push on a 7 or an 11, and you lose with boxcars. Betting on don’t pass will put you on the wrong side as it pits you against the shooter. But you can take advantage of this bet. You can bet evenly between pass line and don’t pass line bets. Though this means that you cannot win, the odds of pushing will outweigh the odds of losing. So, you have better chances of losing less and waiting to set a point. Then you can make your money anywhere else on the table.
After seven, 6 and 8 are the most probable outcomes. They have a 13.89% chance of coming up on the role. It might seem easy to play 6 and 8, but these numbers show up in several spots on the table. Your odds of rolling a hard six or hard eight is 10:1, but you only get a 9:1 payout if it hits. The big six or eight might look tempting, but it would give an even payout. Hence, you should place your chips on the 6 and 8 that are near the dealer. Though the probability does not differ, your payout will increase to 7:6. Thus, you can minimize your losses with a good probability and low house edge and win more in online craps.
